According to a new study, Seaford residents who have their homes fenced are less likely to be burglarized.

The study, conducted by the University of Melbourne, found that fenced properties in Seaford were significantly less likely to be burglarized than those without fences.

“Our research shows that Aldinga Home Improvements fencing Seaford is an effective deterrent against burglary,” said lead author Dr. Michael Kennedy. “Burglars are looking for easy targets, and a well-secured property is much less attractive to them.”

The study surveyed 2,000 households in Seaford and found that those with fences were 33% less likely to be burglarized than those without.

“This is a significant difference,” Dr. Kennedy said. “It’s clear that fencing makes it more difficult for burglars to break into a property.”

The study also found that Seaford residents with alarms were 38% less likely to be burglarized than those without.

“Alarms are another effective deterrent against burglary,” Dr. Kennedy said. “Burglars don’t want to attract attention to themselves, so an alarm system makes it more likely that they’ll be caught.”

Seaford residents who took both measures – fencing and alarm systems – were 56% less likely to be burglarized than those who took neither measure.

“This is the best possible outcome,” Dr. Kennedy said. “Fencing and alarm systems are both effective deterrents against burglary, and when they’re used together, they’re even more effective.”

The study’s findings are consistent with previous research on the subject. A study conducted by the University of New South Wales in 2013 found that fencing was an effective deterrent against burglary, and a study conducted by the University of Queensland in 2014 found that alarm systems were also an effective deterrent.

“The evidence is clear,” Dr. Kennedy said. “Fencing and alarm systems are effective deterrents against burglary, and Seaford residents who take these measures are less likely to be burglarized.”

Property Owners Choose Among Several Fencing Options

Seaford residents have a variety of Aldinga Home Improvements fencing Seaford to choose from, and the type of fence they select can have a significant impact on the security of their property.

“There are several different types of fences available, and each has its advantages and disadvantages,” Dr. Kennedy said. “Some types of fences are more effective than others at deterring burglary.”

The most effective type of fence, according to the study, is a solid brick wall. Properties with solid brick walls were 60% less likely to be burglarized than those without.

“Brick walls are an effective deterrent because they’re difficult to climb and provide little cover for burglars,” Dr. Kennedy said. “Burglars are looking for an easy target, and a brick wall makes it much more difficult for them to break into a property.”

Other types of fences, such as chain-link or wood, were less effective at deterring burglars. Properties with these types of fences were only 33% less likely to be burglarized than those without.

“Chain-link and wood fences are less effective because they’re easier to climb and provide more cover for burglars,” Dr. Kennedy said. “Burglars can easily scale a chain-link fence, and a wood fence provides them with a place to hide.”
